Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, The Management Trust President, Transpacific Management Service
William Sasser is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Management Trust. Mr. Sasser also serves as the President of Transpacific Management Service, a division of The Management Trust. Transpacific was founded in 1966 and currently serves over 250 communities throughout Southern California. Transpacific is also one of a handful of management firms in the state to have received the Certified Management Firm designation (CMF) from the California Association of Community Managers.
Since entering the industry in 1986, Mr. Sasser has remained highly active in professional organizations dedicated to advancing the management industry. Mr. Sasser is a founding member and serves on the Board of Directors for the California Association of Community Managers, a state wide organization whose mission is to create a legislative voice for industry standards, promote self regulation, and provide certification through manager education. During is 14-year tenure as a CACM Director, Mr. Sasser also sat on CACM’s executive committee, serving two consecutive terms as CACM’s Chairman and two years as Treasurer. In 2004, Mr. Sasser was honored with CACM’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his many contributions to the industry and the organization.
A member of the Community Associations Institute, Mr. Sasser has served on several committees including the California Legislative Action Committee, and is the former president and treasurer of the Chief Executive Officers Management Committee for Orange County.
Mr. Sasser attended the University of Texas, Austin, where he received his Bachelor of Journalism degree. Mr. Sasser also holds the Certified Community Association Manager designation.
Chief Financial Officer, The Management Trust The Monarch Group
Alan Jenkins moved to the Coachella Valley in 1991 from San Francisco where he was the regional controller for Booz, Allen & Hamilton, an international management and consulting firm. Shortly after his arrival in the Desert he purchased Cort Data Services, a local accounting service specializing in the homeowner association industry, which was merged with Monarch Management in 1994 creating The Monarch Group.
In addition to servicing the CID industry in a financial capacity for more than 15 years, Mr. Jenkins was involved in the development of RUN Technology property management software used by more than 100 large scale communities and management companies and oversaw the software conversion of hundreds of CID’s in California, Arizona, and North Carolina.
A native of San Francisco, Mr. Jenkins received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Golden Gate University. His duties include serving as the vice chair of the Executive Committee, corporate accounting, and information technology for The Monarch Group in addition to his duties with The Management Trust. Mr. Jenkins also holds the Certified Community Association Manager designation.
Vice President, The Management Trust Division President, Kocal Management Group, Inc.
Dan Kocal, CCAM, is President and CEO of Kocal Management Group, Inc., a Certified Management Firm through the California Association of Community Managers (CACM). Coming from an educational background (he was a teacher and high school principal), he founded Kocal Management Group in 1991. Currently his division represents over 16,000 homeowners residing in 70 Common Interest Developments in the Greater Sacramento Area.
In addition to overseeing the day-to-day business operations of his company, Mr. Kocal is also actively involved in marketing and manager training for his firm.
Mr. Kocal currently serves as Vice Chair on the Executive Committee of the State Board of Directors for the CACM. CACM is a statewide organization established to provide California specific certification for the community association management industry by establishing a code of ethics and standards of practice for professionals. Mr. Kocal is also on their educational staff as an instructor.
Mr. Kocal is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and holds a Master’s Degree from San Jose State University.
Secretary, The Management Trust Division President, The Monarch Group
John Handel is Chair of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Communications Committee.
Mr. Handel began his career in community management in 1987 as on-site Community Manager at The Vintage Club in Indian Wells, California. Widely regarded as the most prestigious country club on the west coast, Mr. Handel managed eight CID’s comprising a total of 508 condominiums, PUD and custom homes. In 1993, he left Vintage to start Monarch Management, which today provides professional management services to more than 20,000 homes in the Palm Springs area.
Mr. Handel holds the CCAM designation and has been a member of the California Association of Community Managers since 1993, on its Board of Directors since 2000, and is proud to serve as Chair of the CACM Board of Directors and Executive Committee in 2006, as well as being a member of its Legislation Committee. Also a member of the Community Associations Institute, Mr. Handel has served on CAI’s Nominating Committee for the Coachella Valley Chapter.
Mr. Handel was a speaker at CACM’s FutureTrends seminars in 2004, discussing legislative micromanagement of the CID Industry in Sacramento.
Board Director, The Management Trust Division President, Northwest Community Management
Mr. Fant has served in the community management business for forty years. Along with the community management business, Mr. Fant is also a Residential Developer and Builder and has done so for twenty five years. With this experience, Mr. Fant, along with his wife, Candace, founded Northwest Community Management in 1994. Northwest Community Management quickly grew from a small company of one employee with three clients to its current size of more than sixty-five employees with 300 communities. Three offices serve the Oregon and Washington areas.
Mr. Fant is a founding member of the Oregon-Washington Community Association Managers (OWCAM) and a co-founder of the California Association of Community Managers (CACM). He recently celebrated his 40th year in the community management industry.
In addition, Mr. Fant received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Finance from California State University at Fullerton and an MBA degree in Urban Land Economics and Real Estate from UCLA.
Board Director, The Management Trust Division President, Goetz/Manderley
Gordon T. Goetz is the president of Goetz/Manderley, a division of The Management Trust. Mr. Goetz has been managing the affairs of homeowner, condominium, and commercial associations for over 18 years. His division currently manages more than 200 homeowner associations in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Southern Monterey Counties as well as more than 300 rental properties.
Mr. Goetz currently serves on the Board of Directors and as a member of the Professional Standards Committee for the California Association of Community Managers (CACM). He is also a member of, and currently is a guest speaker for, the Community Associations Institute, Channel Islands Chapter.
Mr. Goetz has earned the designation of Certified Community Association Manager by CACM and is licensed by the California Department of Real Estate as a Real Estate Broker.
Mr. Goetz earned his Bachelors degree from the University of LaVerne and has earned an MBA degree from Boston University.
Board Director, The Management Trust Division President, CDC Management Services
Robert E. McLean was the original founder of CDC Management Services, and formed the company in 1970. CDC Management Services is a Seattle-area leader in association management. Its staff well-acclaimed by local and national trade organizations.
McLean has been a Real Estate Developer for the past 35 years. His development expertise includes condominiums, apartments, single family homes, retirement and assisted-living facilities, hospitals, and medical centers, as well as office buildings and shopping centers. His organization has built and developed throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, and Hawaii.
