John Handel founded Monarch Management Group in 1993, shortly after leaving The Vintage Club in Indian Wells where he served as on site community manager for six years. Widely regarded as the most prestigious country club in the western United States, The Vintage Club afforded John the opportunity to manage eight homeowners associations ranging in size from 40 to 510 units, with monthly assessments of $15.00 to $950.00. For six years, John was responsible for all property, financial and administrative functions and reported to 44 different Board members.
After six years as the Controller for the San Francisco office of Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Alan Jenkins purchased Cort Data Services, a Palm Desert based accounting firm specializing in homeowners association services. Over the next several years, Alan worked closely with John in his capacity as the community manager of The Vintage Club and subsequently as the owner of what is now The Management Trust - Monarch Group.
They merged their companies in January of 1994. Currently they provide full service accounting and property management for over 18,000 units in Indio, La Quinta, Bermuda Dunes, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, Cherry Valley, and Highland, California.
The Management Trust - Monarch Group currently provides both on site and off site management for approximately seventy communities that vary in size from 16 to more than 2,800 units. Building types include condominiums (from duplexes to 8 units per building), single family homes, guard entrances, clubhouses and RV spaces. The Management Trust - Monarch Group currently employs approximately ninety personnel, including our Palm Desert corporate office, consisting of over thirty staff members.
